Seven Oaks Senior Park Set to Open -
Come celebrate the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission's grand opening of the Seven Oaks Park Senior Center Expansion on Tuesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Lane in St. Andrews. The park is opening an additional 5,000 square feet of space for senior programs and activities. Seven Oaks Park serves as a Council on Aging, offering senior support services, health and wellness programs, social activities and a meal site which serves more than 23,000 meals annually to seniors in the Irmo Champin community.
The new addition includes a large activity room that can be subdivided into three separate rooms, an expanded fitness area, designated access to restrooms from the senior addition, and two offices for senior staff.
Elizabeth B. Taylor, executive director for the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, said the expansion offers needed space to accommodate the growth of the senior population and the rising needs of seniors in the community. The expansion was developed by ICRC with finiacial assistance through a grant from the Permanent Improvement Project (PIP) Lt. Governor's Council on Aging.
